I approach writing these sporadic updates on my virtual bike ride to India with more than a little embarrassment at times, especially when I realise just how little I have cycled. In fact, if I put as much effort into doing the virtual bike ride as I do into making excuses why it's not going so well, I would be a lot further down that virtual road! Of course, I could just lie through my teeth and pretend I am doing miles I am not, but that's not really my style. So, without further ado, here is the latest update of my virtual bike ride to India –
Thursday 09 January – Zilch
Friday 10 January – Zip
Saturday 11 January – Nada
Sunday 12 January – 20kms on the turbo trainer, and I am off to a good start for the week.
Monday 13 January – Another 20kms on the turbo trainer. This is more like it!
Tuesday 14 January – And another 20kms on the turbo trainer. Unbelievable!
Wednesday 15 January – Nil point
Thursday 16 January – Big fat ‘O'
Friday 17 January – Zero, as it was a night out at the rugby, and afterwards, my brother and I went out for a few beers.
Saturday 18th January – After recovering from the night at the rugby, my brother an I drove over to Birmingham for a good night out. Guess what? – No cycling again!
Sunday 19th January – Nah
Monday 20th January – 20kms on the turbo trainer.
Tuesday 21 January – None
Wednesday 22 January – 20kms on the turbo trainer. Kind of missing cycling outside, and can't wait for the spring and summer!
Thursday 23 January – Nuffing
Friday 24 January – Nought
Saturday 25 January – F-all. Starting to think that this virtual bike ride to India was a stupid idea!
Sunday 26th January – 20kms on the turbo trainer completed.
Monday 27th January – Niet
Tuesday 28th January – 20kms on the turbo trainer.
Wednesday 29th January – No cycling.
This brings my total for this three week period to 140kms. If my maths is right, that also means that I have cycled just 825kms in 13 weeks during my virtual bike ride to India! I know that I wanted to travel slowly during my next trip, but perhaps not quite this slowly! Hopefully, I can add a few more kms every week once the daylight hours increase and I can get outside once more on the bike.
