I always knew that the Christmas period would be a busy one, and that the chances of keeping up a respectable cycling training regime were slim, but over the last two weeks I have excelled myself in laziness! All I have managed to cobble together, is a paltry 80kms over the two weeks, which is quite shameful, especially when given my recent interview with Heike Pirngruber who is about to cycle into Iran! Still, I am sure that I can make the kilometres up at some point in the future and eventually complete my virtual bike ride to India (maybe!).
Thursday 28th November – Cycling was never going to happen tonight, as I was with customers on a meal out for the night. When all food and drink is paid for, training takes a back seat. Left the casino at 1.30, although thankfully only 20 quid lighter rather than 500 like some other guy.
Friday 29th November – Going out on a school night the night before left me with no energy, hence no cycling.
Saturday 30th November – I had good intentions of doing 40km after work on the bike, but then I was given a free ticket for the Cobblers game. It's been ages since I have seen a game of football, and it seems I haven't missed much! In the evening, I went out for a curry with the lads, and ended up back in our old pub until the small hours. Good times!
Sunday 01 December – Although I did walk home 10 kms from my brothers house to mine in the morning (I must have still been drunk!), I did no actual cycling.
Monday 02 December – Guilt kicked in, and I did 20 kms after work. yay me!
Tuesday 03 December – A 20km cycle on the turbo trainer, and i reached a new top speed of 40kmh, even if it was only for thirty seconds.
Wednesday 04 December – No cycling, and I can't even remember what excuse I came up with it must have been so lame… whoops.
Thursday 05 December – Today's excuse was needing to pack my bag for a long weekend in Manchester.
Friday 06 December – A half day at work, and then I caught a train to Manchester for a long weekend there. No cycling.
Saturday 07 December – A no cycling day again, although I spent some time wandering around Manchester in the Christmas markets.
Sunday 08 December – No cycling again, as still in Manchester.
Monday 09 December – I left Manchester at about mid-day, and when I eventually got back, guess what?? That's right, no cycling again! Pathetic.
Tuesday 10 December – First day back on the bike after the long weekend away, and the 20kms did not come easy, although watching Dollhouse on Netflix helped.
Wednesday 11 December – The last day of my cycling week, and I cycled another 20kms on the turbo trainer, bringing my combined total for the two weeks up to 80kms. (Something I would easily do in a day when cycling around the world!).
