A further progress report
| Cycling from Alaska to Argentina Travelogue - The build up to the trip |
A brief update to cover the last couple of weeks....
I've booked a place on the Dalton Highway Express, which will take me from Fairbanks to Deadhorse (Prudhoe bay), for Saturday July 18th. It wasn't cheap, but it had to be done. So, I land sometime on the 16th in Fairbanks, and then half a day and a half to aquire supplies and info before taking the bus to the start of the Dalton Highway, where the fun will begin!!
I've used a site called www.warmshowers.org, which is a hospitality site for touring cyclists. Basically, touring cyclists from around the world register with the site, offering a room or shower or storage for other touring cyclists who may pass through their regions. I've contacted a member in Fairbanks, and after swapping a couple of emails, it looks like I have a place to stay for two nights before I head up to Deadhorse. I'm really looking forwards to meeting them, and they even offered to pick me up from the airport!!
We are almost in June now... time to increase the mileage I cycle, and do more cycling whilst towing the trailer.
