| Cycling from Alaska to Argentina Travelogue - The build up to the trip |
Saturday - Did a couple of laps of the reservoir with the trailer in tow. A couple of people waved me down to ask what I was in training for. I'd forgotten just how much of any trip was answering the same 'so where did you come from today, where are you going tomorrow, and where will you end up?' questions, so this was also good training!!
Then, it was into town, where even though I thought I had bought everything I need for the trip, some 'last minute' purchases took me over the fifty quid mark - ace. Got two lots of currency. Some more US dollars and some Canadian dollars. I now have all the currency in notes I am willing to carry with me, so everything else will be done via ATM machines in the countries I am in. In the morning, when cycling, someone advised that I take something to protect from mosquitoes, so I bought some repellant and a face net, which I am sure I will appreciate somewhere down the line.
On the way back from town, I bumped into Steve Denton and Kev Tipler, who bizarrely were heading into Brixworth to watch a local cricket match, as some famous international bowler was guesting. If I paid more attention, or knew more about sport, I am sure I could tell you who it was, but, well, I can't. A couple of beers in the afternoon rounded the day off.
Sunday has just been a day to tidy up loose ends, pack some more boxes, and go through bits of kit... nothing exciting to report really. Happy fathers day Dad!
