Another day off Panama City

Cycling from Alaska to Argentina Travelogue - April 2010 Travelogue

Not a lot to report for the day. I bought a t-shirt and some sea-sickness pills ( i expect to be heave ho-ing a lot!), some bin liners to put over the bike when it is on deck, and some road snacks. A four wheel drive will pick me up tomorrow at 5 in the morning to take me to Carti. I had originally wanted to cycle this, but with the departure being so soon, and extremely heavy rains every day, it would have been difficult to make it in time over mud tracks. The trip should take me 5 days assuming I don't get eaten by sharks, stranded on an island or involved in an elaborate drugs sting operation, and so my next update will be from Cartagena in Colombia.

(Id just like to take this opportunity to thank everyone who visits, reads, comments and encourages me. Especially, I would like to thank my parents, as without their support I would be unable to complete this trip)

Laters all !!!

Hello Dave,
Wow ! Your website is informative and inspiring! My husband and I have a dream to cycle from anchorage to the grand canyon. We plan to set off in June 2011 and we have been trying to get as much information as possible about what bikes to get, what to take, which route to travel, costs, etc and I hope you dont mind if I ask for some advice. I read your recent message and you said you had lots of rain...well today we rode in hectic winds and the rain came down, so England is much the same weatherwise to waht you are getting. Hope you are not too sea sick. Remember that your reality is an inspiration to others. kind regards
bridget

Hey Dave,
We made it to Panama today, had a puncture in the slums though and a police escort for the last km to the hostel! Good to hear you are en route to Colombia. We took your good tips for the trip from David, nice one, hope to catch you in South America....McDonalds somewhere maybe :))))
