How to set up a website

Ok, firstly, what would you like the website for? Is it to keep a travel diary for others to read when you are on the road? Then perhaps a 'Blog' site would be better for you. A blog site is usually free to keep and update, but may have limits on the number of photo's you can put on. Why not try these sites and see what you think...

bloggernity.com
blog.com

So, you've had a look, but you prefer the versatility of a website, with an address that's more personal ie. davestravelpages.com.

Hosting

So, what is hosting? Basically, there are two parts to this. Firstly, choose a domain name (that's the www. part), and secondly choose a package that suits you. The package should include email facilities, enough storage for some of your photo's and the versatility to expand. I go through the company 1and1.co.uk, as not only do they provide this, they also give you free software to build your website, with NO programming skills required. Once you've paid, the registration has gone through, and the account is fully set up, you'll have a basic website online within THIRTY minutes... Seriously! Over time, you might find their software a bit limiting, but thats no problem, you can always use your own once you've developed confidence and seen how easy it all is. So, click on the link below, and see if it suits you.

Now, the chances are, that you are going to click on the link, read what they have to offer, switch the computer off, and think about it. If you do this and decide to buy a package from them, PLEASE come back here first and click on the link from my pages again. It's not going to cost you any more money, and I will receive a small commission which helps keep this site online, and hopefully, me on the road for longer!! Thanks a lot, and when your site is up and running, give me the URL address, and I'll add you in the links section. It's all unbelievably easy.. Good luck!!
