Hey Dave - great job, I love your work, I'm thinking of doing the same thing but running? Just rekindled my love for cycling this summer with a cycling holiday in Loire Valley - I'm sure its not as epic as your adventure but it was good fun all the same.

Good luck and keep going!

Hi Dave,

Great blog! Just thought you might like to know about a cool way to share your pictures and videos with your readers.

Our Facebook Masher application allows you to mix pictures and videos with music, effects and text to make great videos. We have recently created a holiday/travel themed version of the application, which is what we thought you and your readers may find useful.

Check it out at apps.facebook.com/.../...

Hope you find it as fun and useful as our users do.

Thanks and again great blog!

In fat south america offers a lot more in terms of cycling, views and enjoyment thazn central america, which i just found to hot and humid for my liking. I much prefer the mountains.

If you were to bomb down, you would need to stick to the copast. The problem that you will have here, is that it is not really inspiring, and there can be strong winds. Add on to that the fact that you may be pushing it to arrive in Ushuai around may/june time in terms of weather, and i persoanally am not sure as it would be worth it.

If the goal is to complete the journey - then go for it. South america is cheaper than central (especially ecuador, peru, bolivia).

If the aim is to enjoy some beautiful countries, away from any tourist trail, see a car every 2 or 3 hours or so, then i would say finish at Panama, save some more cash, and then treat south america as a seperate journey later on- its worth it!

Hi ross,
Good to hear from you again.
I am actruallyt in a similñar circumstance myself now.... the money is all gone, cant really borrow more, and will have to call it a day in Mendoza. A bit irritating, but there you go.

In ref to your questions - It is possible to cycle down that far in four months

Have a lok at the blog. I met him way back in Alaska, and he is one of the fastest "loaded" cycle tourers to do the route.
Now that said, i think if you write to him, he wont say that he enjoyed it!
His blog isnt up to date, but he does have a pretty god gogle map where he "spotted" his every nights stay.

The reason i took the mountain routes is because of the scenery. Peru in particular is probably the best cycling country in terms of views i have visited.

continued on next message....
