Skype
Skype has revolutionised the way that travellers can communicate with friends and family back home. I have made Skype calls from countries as varied as Sudan, Syria, Tanzania, Mexico and even my own country of England of course! If you can get online, then you can get on Skype, and with the rapid spread of computer technology throughout the world, you can get online virtually anywhere.
So what is Skype?
Basically, Skype is a piece of software that enables you to talk over the internet. Download it to your computer, or a computer in an internet cafe, sign in, and get in touch with your contacts. Its that simple! By creating an account, your contacts are stored in Skype central, meaning that no matter what computer you use, your contacts will be brought up when you log in to you account
How much does Skype cost ?
Its free. Yes, FREE !! Download the software at no cost. If you make Skype to Skype calls, there is absolutely no charge. This also includes video calls!! Yep, you can talk to Mum and Dad face to face over the internet for free. See what I mean about it revolutionising travel?
But I want to call a landline from Skype.
Then, there are fee paying options. The one that I chose, was a subscription. This enables me to call one country for free, unlimited and at anytime on landlines. It also provides me with a Skype number, so people can leave messages and call me from their own landlines. If I want to call another country, then I can still do so, and there is a ridiculously low charge to do so.
Thats probably enough from me! Why not visit Skype now, and see for yourself!!
