Here's a list of some of the best GoPro accessories to help you capture all the action from your latest travel adventures. Whether cycling, surfing, or skydiving, there is a GoPro accessory designed to give you unique angles and shots so you can share the experience later.
Why Use a GoPro
Often imitated but never bettered, the GoPro range of action cameras has been with us for a number of years. A device so small it fits in the palm of the hand, it smoothly captures fast movement, making it ideal for filming action sports such as cycling, climbing, and kayaking. The GoPro itself is only half the story though. It is the range of innovative accessories that have helped seal its place as the ultimate action camera. Strap it to your head, use a pole, or attach it to a drone – whatever you have in mind, there is an accessory suitable for your next travel adventures. Here is a list of the best GoPro accessories, some of which I will be using on my next cycling trip from Greece to England beginning in May 2016.
Best GoPro Accessories For Travel Adventures
Before I begin this list of the best GoPro accessories, I should probably point out there there are two types of accessory available. The first is the ‘official' range of GoPro accessories from GoPro themselves. The second, is the unofficial range available from numerous other manufacturers. The general consensus is that the official GoPro accessories are of far higher quality, whilst the unofficial range may vary. No prizes for guessing which range is the more expensive of course! I have included both in this list of the best GoPro accessories for travel adventures. My personal recommendation, is that if you just want accessories for occasional use, then the unofficial range is fine. If you are a heavy GoPro user, then you might want to invest a little more money for more robust and longer lasting equipment.
Go Pro Selfie Stick
If there is one GoPro accessory everyone should have, then it is a selfie stick! I am going to opt for the AmazonBasics Selfie stick here, which also has a neat feature of being able to house the GoPro remote control on it.
Thinking of throwing yourself out of an aeroplane and hoping the parachute opens? (Or skydiving as it is known to some). A headstrap is the perfect GoPro accessory. You probably don't want to experiment with inferior products when hurtling to the ground at great speed, so the official GoPro headstrap is recommended here. This is actually one of their more economical products, so don't sweat over the cost.
General Purpose Accessory Kit
If you are looking for a GoPro accessory kit that does it all, then Amazon have a number to choose from. Prices range from $38 to $100, and most kits seem to have the same items. The one that caught my eye though was this one – Nomadic Gear Advanced Accessory kit. Not only does it offer all the best GoPro accessories in one box, but you can also use these accessories with your smartphone. Important note – The Selfie stick in this kit is recommended for phones only, so stick to the selfie stick I have already mentioned!
Do you own a GoPro, and if so, what do you think are the best GoPro accessories for travel adventures? Better still, have you taken any action video? I would love to take a look! Please leave a comment below.
