Preparing to Buy an Expedition Bicycle
As those of you who follow my travel blog and Twitter account may know, I recently decided to buy a new expedition bicycle. (Deciding to do this was done in the rather novel way of flipping a coin – For more info on this read Coin Flip Tweets.). Having decided to buy the expedition bicycle was just stage one though, the next stage is working out how to pay for it!
Whilst I have enough money tucked away to pay for the expedition bicycle, there is no point in handing over money unnecessarily when that money could be sitting in my bank and earning me interest! So, I have decided to apply for a new credit card in order to take advantage of an introductory offer, and make the most out of it.

Having looked through the credit cards on offer that I don’t already have, I decided to apply for the Tesco Clubcard Credit Card. This has a 0 % period of 16 months (which is pretty impressive), and also offers one Clubcard point for every four pounds spent. As Tescos is one of the main supermarkets that I use, this presents a pretty good deal overall.
Slight problem though – I realised that although my Tesco account was adding points onto my Clubcard, I had no idea what my Clubcard account was!! That was the first thing that had to be rectified!
After trying to log in via my Tesco account, I came across this number – 0800 591 688
Only after dialling it at 20.05, did I discover that they closed at 20.00 ! So, I waited until the next day, and tried again. Doreen was very helpful, despite the fact that I didn't know my Clubcard number, and my details were soon up to date, with an added bonus that I had accumulated £13.00 in vouchers – Kerching!
The next stage then, was to apply for the credit card itself. Having just changed my address, I was prepared for the worst, and to be given the chase around in terms of remembering addresses I had lived at years previously. Who ever thought that buying an expedition bicycle would be this difficult?!?
As it turned out, applying for the credit card and getting accepted took less than ten minutes – Nice result there! So, as I wait for it to arrive, I will start to look at the various different types of expedition bicycles available to buy, and work out which one looks the most suitable for me.
