When my last cycling adventure from Alaska to Argentina came to an end in the February of 2011, I knew one thing for sure – Travel by bicycle is in my blood, and I wanted to embark on another around the world cycling trip. The problem was, not only had I spent all my savings on the trip, I had also borrowed another 3 grand into the bargain. One thing was working in my favour though, and that was that I had a job waiting for me when I got back. With this in mind, I developed a long term plan that I could put in place before beginning the next long distance cycling trip.
The reason behind this, is that before leaving on the next cycling adventure, I wanted to make sure that I had a secure financial base to do it from. Whilst this might delay the start date of the next trip, what it would mean, is that I could potentially have enough funds to last anywhere between 5 and 7 years of cycling around the world. The second reason for putting a long term plan into action, was that during that period of time, I would also be able to buy myself some decent gear and a good bike -Something I have never had before!
