My top travel gift ideas for Black Friday 2024. A list of gadgets and gear you’ll actually use when traveling to Greece and beyond!
Travel Gift List (Black Friday Edition)
I know, I know—you’ve probably seen hundreds of these ‘best things to buy for travel on Black Friday' articles. But hear me out – This list of gadgets and gear is genuinely useful!
While you might find some items cheaper on Black Friday than at other times of the year, each one is definitely worth considering no matter when you happen to be reading this.
So, take a look, and see what you think. You’ll see that it says Amazon.com because most of my readers are based in the US. However, bythe magic of science, if you click on a link you should be taken through to your local Amazon store.
Oh, and if you do happen to buy anything through one of the links, you may be helping to support my work with a small affiliate commission at no extra cost to you- Cheers!
1. Zipped Travel Belt
My first suggestion is, in my opinion, a no brainer. A travel belt with a zip along the inside is the one travel item I always take with me, and in fact wear it on a daily basis even in my ‘regular’ life.
What it allows you to do, is fold up some money, and put it in the inside of the belt. (Pro Tip: I normally wrap my money in a clear bag to keep it dry).
Travel Security Belt - Hidden Money Pouch for Anti-Theft Protection
✓ KEEP YOUR CASH SAFE FROM PICKPOCKETS - Equipped with an easy-to-use hidden zippered security pouch.
✓ This hidden money belt for travel conceals spare currency, a passport COPY, and small travel accessories from thieves.
✓ Fully adjustable anti-theft belt for Men and Women, fits waist sizes 26” - 42”.

You then just zip it up, and wear it as a regular belt. I normally carry around a couple of hundred Euros like this which acts as my emergency money when traveling. If for some reason I misplace my wallet or it goes missing, I know I’ve always got a few days of ready cash to see me through.
Given how cheap they are, it’s almost irresponsible not to have one!
2. Power Bank
Item number 2 to consider picking up before your travels is a small power bank. These little items are incredibly useful as a fallback for when your phone is running low on juice. Something which can happen a lot when you’re taking endless photos and videos on holiday!
Anker Power Bank, PowerCore 5000 mAh - Compact and Fast Charging
✓ High Capacity: Contains 5000 mAh of power. Enough to provide over an entire replacement charge for iPhone X and Samsung Galaxy S9, or almost 2 charges for iPhone 8.
✓ Ultra-Compact: Remarkably small, tubular design slides easily next to your phone in any pocket or bag. Just 10cm tall and 3cm wide.
✓ Fast Charging: Equipped with exclusive PowerIQ technology, it provides faster charge to any phone or tablet (up to 2A).

Power banks come in all shapes, sizes and capacities. When I’m on my longer bike touring trips, I take a huge capacity powerbank as it keeps my electronic gear charged for a few days. Most people though will probably find that a powerbank in the 5000mah range is enough to charge their phone once, which is normally enough when out for the day.
I prefer Anker products which I have found to be very reliable over the years. There’s plenty of others out there though.
3. Air Tags or Equivalent
We all wish that airlines didn’t lose luggage, or that bags don’t get snatched. They can and do though.
Drop in an Apple Air Tag (yes, there’s Android equivalents) to those bags or items you want to track, and you’ll always know where your stuff is.
Apple AirTag - Easily Track and Find Your Items
✓ Keep track of and find your items alongside friends and devices in the Find My app.
✓ Simple one-tap setup instantly connects AirTag with your iPhone or iPad.
✓ Play a sound on the built-in speaker to help find your things, or just ask Siri for help.
✓ Precision Finding with Ultra Wideband technology leads you straight to your nearby AirTag (iPhone 11 or later).

On a cycling trip through Iceland I was flying with my quite expensive bicycle. For that, the cost of a GPS tracker was well worth it so that I could monitor where my bike box was in transit!
4. Sandisk Extreme SSD
Want to keep your photos and videos backed up as you travel? These small SSD drives are just the thing! I’ve got over half a dozen of these now, using a mix of 1TB and 2TB capacity.
SanDisk 2TB Extreme Portable SSD - High-Speed and Durable Storage

They don’t take up any weight or room and give some piece of mind that if you lose your phone when on holiday, at least you won’t lose the photos. Just remember to back up your phone each night!

They’re light and small, and one of those little extras whose benefits you only fully realise when you’ve used it the first time.
6. Kindle
I suppose by now everyone who wants a Kindle has got one, but I’ve added it in here in any case. You can fill it up with books, and you’ll always have plenty to read when lounging by the pool or between transfers.
You could always make the first e-book you purchase my Athens Essential Travel Tips available at a very nominal price on Amazon!
7. Victorinox Swiss Army Knife
I’m not sure you can travel with these as carry-on, so put it in your checked luggage to be on the safe side.
Swiss Army Knife - Durable, Compact, and Iconic Design
✓ A CUT ABOVE THE REST: Compact, agile, and ready to face any adventure head-on.

These knives have a multitude of uses, with the corkscrew probably getting the most work when traveling to countries with good selections of wine to try on the hotel room balcony!
8. Digital Hand Scale
Why is it that every airline has their own weight allowances when it comes to baggage? There doesn’t seem to be any set standard, especially on the more stricter airlines like RyanAir.
Digital Hand Scale - Prevent Overweight Baggage Charges
✓ Travel without stress.
✓ This hanging baggage scale easily prevents overweight baggage charges; a must-have for traveling.
✓ The travel weight scale has 110lb/50kg weight capacity, allowing you to use it for even those oversized bags.
✓ Simple yet effective.

If you’re planning to but some souvenirs to take back home with you, don’t get caught out with extra baggage charges when checking in. With these scales, you can weigh your bags beforehand and know where you stand.
9. Towel Clips
Probably not the most glamorous of travel gifts to buy for yourself or someone else, but potentially one of the most useful.
Towel Clips - 8 Pack for Beach Chairs and Clotheslines
✓ 8 Pack beach towel clip clamps in 4 bright colors: blue, yellow, rose red, green (2 pcs per color).
✓ Big size plastic towel clips secure your towel to most beach chairs with rounded jaws.
✓ Dimension: 4.7 inches in length, opens up to 2.7 inches, and securely holds items to the frame.

Whether you’re looking to keep your towel in place on the back of a chair on a cruise ship, or hanging your swimsuit to dry on your hotel room balcony, packing a couple of these per person is certainly worth considering.
10. Mosquito Repellent
I hope you don’t need it. I really do! However, if mosquitos and biting midge things love you as much as they love me, you’ll probably want to get yourself some before your next trip!
Mosquito Repellent - 98.11% DEET Protection for Severe Insect Conditions
✓ REPELS: Creates a barrier against mosquitoes, including those that may transmit Zika, West Nile, Dengue, and Chikungunya viruses.

Many people take the personal repellent, but you might also want to consider something you can plug into the wall of your room to stop them buzzing around you at night.
I hope you enjoyed these gift ideas for travelers. Anything you buy through an affiliate link helps support the site so I can continue producing great content for others just like you!
