Blimey – It’s 2024!

(Or it will be when I remember to write 2024 instead of 2023 on everything).

How did you see in the New Year?

We went into Athens city center for the night to watch the fireworks.

Apart from Syntagma Square and Monastiraki, the center was very quiet. The weather was great, and we watched the fireworks with an Acropolis view from a closed cafe who had kindly left their chairs and tables outside.

You can see a bit of what it was like on my very amateurish Athens NYE YouTube video.

As the metro finished running at 23.00 and taxis were few and far between, we  stayed in a hotel in Psirri called The Residence Aiolou Suites & SPA.

A very nice place – is three plates of bacon and eggs for breakfast too much?!

Oh, and talking of taxis, from March onward, a new law will be introduced where they should be obliged to accept card payments.

And now, with the start of a New Year, it’s time to get fully back into travel blogging mode again!

I’ll be kickstarting a new series of social media posts, focusing on a Greek destination or theme each week. You can find social media links below.

Also, I encourage you to join our Facebook Group. The purpose of the group is to have a place where people planning a trip to Greece can ask questions and get answers from other people who have traveled to Greece.

Finally, while some ferry timetables are now scheduled for the summer, there are others that perhaps won’t be until Easter. Check timetables at: Ferryscanner

That’s it for now, don’t slack on those New Year resolutions!

Dave
