A week off in San Cristobal de las Casas

As I had to wait for quality parts to be delivered from the UK, I took a week of in San Cristobal de las Casas in Mexico. Here's what I got up to.

Getting bike parts delivered to Mexico

I am taking an enforced break here in San Cristobal de las Casas, whilst I wait for some tyres and a chain to be delivered from the UK.

I've ordered them through SJS Cycles, (who I have no connection with), as they delivered tyres out to me in Africa also.

With the delivery time to Mexico being anything up to 2 weeks, it gives  me a lot of days here, although strangely, it seems like I have been busier than when I am cycling!

Time off in San Cristobal de las Casas

I've decided to do this update in two parts. This part is just a general summary of what I have been up too, and at the bottom of which will be in interactive Google Map of San Cristobal de las Casas, which if all has gone to plan will include photos.

The second part, is a general guide/description whatever you would like to call it about San Cristobal de las Casas, including the photos that I have taken.

My daily routine when not cycling

So, what have I been up to ? Life has taken a pleasant routine so far. I have breakfast at the same place every morning, which is great value. After breakfast, I go for a bit of a wander around the streets of San Cristobal, checking out a few shops and keeping an eye on the exchange rate for Quetzals (Guatemalan currency) .

Then,  I sit down in front of the computer, and start work on my websites. Keeping this travelogue (which is reasonably time consuming in itself) is only part of the job.

Happy as I am with the amount of visitors I receive (thanks you very much!!), in order to take it to the next level, is requiring a lot of hours of forum posting, network building and all manner of other things.

Its difficult to explain to anyone that has not tried the same thing exactly what I am doing, and results are not instant, but its the best use of my time here whilst I wait for my tyres to be delivered.

Lunch in San Cristobal

Lunch is either a menu-del-dia in one of the many restaurants around here, or bean burritos with avocado and tomato.

Then more computer work either carrying on with the websites, or researching the road ahead. At night, I watch a film I have downloaded during the day.

Now, that's not exactly the most thrilling read I know – but what else can I do right now ?

Anyhow, here's the interactive map of San Cristobal de las Casas that I made. You'll probably need to zoom in to look at the place markers.
