Honduras Bicycle Touring

Back in 2010, I cycled through Honduras as part of my bike tour from Alaska to Argentina. During my time spent cycling on the Pan-American tour, I kept a blog post a day.

The thing is, I didn't exactly spend that long in Honduras before cycling into Nicaragua.

In fact, I only stayed in Honduras for one night in the end! I literally cut a corner off the country.

The decision to only spend two days cycling and one night in Honduras was more to do with the directness of the route than any other factor.

Honduras – Quick facts and travel tips

Currency: Lempira (HNL)
Cycling conditions: Hot, arid, dry – Thirsty work!
Favourite food: Wendy's for breakfast
Beaches: None where I was cycling!
Wild Camping: Didn't try, as I was only in the country for one night.
Costs: Probably more than it should have been, but never mind!

Memorable Moments

  • Being wolf-whistled by some girls, proving that Honduran women have excellent taste in men.
  • Police checkpoints where the cops just wanted to chat.
  • Random bike path.

Honduras Bike Touring Blogs

During my bike ride through Honduras, I wrote a blog post a day, as I did with the rest of my Pan Am bike tour. However, there's only really two of them!

Here's the bicycle touring blogs for you to check out:
