Cycling from Fort Stevens to Nehalem Beach – Bike Touring PCH

Nehalem Beach in Oregon

Continuing the bike tour along the west coast of the USA, today I cycled from Fort Stevens to Nehalem Beach. Using a 'Pee Bottle' Heavy rain during the night necessitated the use of a pee bottle during the night. Well, old fanta bottle. I'll leave you to work out the logistics of it all, but it was mission accomplished with thankfully zero spillages. Is using a pee bottle in the tent on a … [Read more...]

Day off in Fort Stevens – A day off the bike on the Pacific Coast Route

Dave's new tent on display at Fort Stevens in the USA

I took a well deserved day off from cycling today. It had been a while since I just chilled out and did nothing, so this was my big chance at Fort Stevens! A rest day from cycling I decided to take the day off from cycling today, which although I started feeling guilty about, I soon got over, especially when I realised I hadn’t had a day off the bike since leaving Anna’s and the farm in … [Read more...]

Cycling from Disappointment Bay to Fort Stevens – Buying a new tent

The Astoria Big Bridge

Today, I cycled over the Astoria Big Bridge on the route from Disappointment Bay to Fort Stevens. I also managed to buy a new tent! Getting ready to cycle In the morning, I got talking to a girl from Quebec who had turned up at the campground in the evening with her friend. They were both riding from Vancouver and possibly on to Panama, and pick fruit in B.C. Canada in July/August to fund their … [Read more...]

Cycling from Bruceport to Disappointment Bay – Bike Touring USA

Cape Disappointment

Today's cycling from Bruceport to Disappointment Bay was another relatively easy one. Nowhere to buy a new tent though yet! Cycling from Bruceport Blog post written September 2009 as part of my Alaska to Argentina bike tour.Again easy riding today, which is both good and bad. Good that I am having it easy, but bad because I will get used to it, and then a hard day will be absolute … [Read more...]

Cycling from Twin Harbours to Bruceport County Campground

The D-Ment - Dave's Makeshift Tent

The first night's sleep in the makeshift shelter I had to construct, and then I cycled from Twin Harbours to Bruceport County Campground. The night in the shelter I slept well, and it didn’t rain during the night. Probably just as well, as the temporary shelter I constructed due to the pole failures would be about as waterproof as a sieve!During the night, I realised that the tent was now … [Read more...]
